eConsult Information

What is eConsult?

eConsult is a way of getting non-urgent advice and help from the GP using your phone or computer. It is available 24 hours a day so you can send a request even when the surgery is closed. It should not be used for urgent problems. If you require help urgently please ring reception when we are open, or 111 out of hours.

What Sort Of Things Can I Get Help With?

  • You can ask for advice about symptoms you or someone you care for are experiencing
  • You can send in photos of skin problems
  • You can ask for administrative help such as asking for a sick note
  • You can send the GP an update about an existing problem

Please note that some problems are not suitable for eConsults, and you may be asked to contact the surgery to book an appointment

How Can I Send An eConsult?

Using your phone, tablet or computer, go to the eConsult website. You will be taken through a series of questions about the sort of help you want and about the problem or question you are seeking help with. For example, if you are having pain in your knee, you will be asked how long you have had the pain, what caused it, how is it affecting you, things you have tried already, and so on. Answers will either be “yes/no” or there will space for you to type what you want.

What Happens Next

You will be contacted by the surgery within 4 working days with a response. Responses will vary depending on the nature of the problem. For example, you may:

  • be sent a text message from the GP with advice or information
  • be asked to contact the surgery to book an appointment
  • be sent a link to download a sick note
