Urgent Same Day Appointments
For urgent same day appointments please call the surgery on 02380 555776 from 8am
We have same-day appointments for urgent problems with our nurse practitioners and GPs. Appointments are given in the order people call.
Our nurse practitioners are very skilled nurses. They can check your health, give medicines, and refer you to other services if needed. If needed, they will ask a GP to help.
Your usual GP may not be available. You might need to see a different GP or nurse practitioner.
Book a Routine GP Appointment
Routine appointments can be made with the GP of your choice up to 3 weeks in advance by the following methods:
- call the surgery on 02380 555776 (avoid the mornings as the phones can be very busy at those times)
- book online using the NHS App
- book online using SystmOnline
Don't have an NHS login? It's easy to sign up on the NHS website.
Need to register for SystmOnline? See our online services page.
Nurse Appointments
Appointments with one of the practice nurses can be requested by calling the surgery on 02380 555776
Our practice nurses undertake a wide range of tasks including injections, dressing changes, vaccinations, asthma checks, ear syringing and chronic disease reviews.
Blood Tests
Appointments with one of our healthcare assistants can be requested by calling the surgery on 02380 555776 or by coming to the front desk.
- Please let the receptionist if it is a fasting or non-fasting blood test
- Please only book a blood test appointment if you have already talked about it with a GP or nurse
Blood tests can also be booked at Southampton General Hospital (over 16 only):
- By phone: ring 023 8120 4877 Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
- Online using the University Hospital Southampton website
If you are under 16 then you might need to go to the Butterfly clinic at Southampton General Hospital. To book an appointment, please call 023 8120 2024 (lines are open 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday).
More information can be found on the Southampton Children's Hospital website
Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)
If you’ve been off work sick for more than 7 days in a row (including weekends and bank holidays), you need to give your employer a doctor’s ‘fit note’ (sometimes called a ‘sick note’).
Travel Vaccinations
Information and advice for travelling abroad.
Home Visits
You can ask for a home visit by calling the surgery on 02380 555776
If you need a same-day home visit, please call before 10:30am. This helps the GPs plan their work.
Home visits are only for patients who cannot come to the surgery because they are too ill or unable to leave their home.
A GP may call you first to talk about your request
Help Us Run To Time!
Our GP and nurse practitioner appointments are 10 minutes long.
Please arrive early and check in using the check-in screen in reception
To help us keep on time, please try not to bring up lots of problems in one appointment. Usually, we can only talk about one problem in a 10-minute appointment. You might need to book another appointment if you have more things to discuss. Or, when you book, you can ask for a double appointment if you think you need more time
Sometimes, because of medical emergencies, delays happen, and the clinician may run late.
Thank you for understanding if we run late. We’ll do our best to keep you updated if there are any delays.
Change or Cancel an Appointment
Please cancel unwanted appointments
You may be shocked to learn that in 2024 of the 48,411 appointments booked 1964 were wasted due to patients not turning up. That is 1 in 25 appointments, or 506 hours of GP and nurse time!
Please let us know as early as you can if you can’t make your appointment, so we can offer it to someone else.
Ways to cancel
- Telephone us on 02380 555776
- Cancel using our online services
- Cancel through the NHS App
Out of Hours
Extended Hours Appointments
- Early morning and late evening appointments are available across the week
- Saturday morning routine appointments are available from 8:00am once a month.
Life Threatening
Call 999 or go to A&E now if:
- you or someone you know needs immediate help
- you have seriously harmed yourself – for example, by taking a drug overdose
A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency.
Urgent But Not Life Threatening
Visit an urgent care centre if:
- You have an urgent medical issue requiring on the day attention
Non-Urgent
Use NHS 111 if:
- You need help now, but it’s not an emergency
There will be someone to provide you with advice and to direct you to a clinician if it is necessary.
Livi Video Appointments
Consult a GP via video link. Appointments are available weekdays and weekends.
Livi is a video consultation service with GPs who do not work at the surgery but who will have access to your GP records.
Contact Us Online
eConsult is an online consultation tool for contacting your GP online (not for urgent problems: ring reception on 02380 555776 if your problem is urgent). You should expect to receive a response in 4 working days.
Please do not use e-consult to request that we book an appointment.
