Accessing GP services during the Coronavirus Outbreak

As the Coronavirus Outbreak develops, your GP surgery may have to deal with a surge in patient demand. We also need to be prepared to cope with staff absence. Help us to maintain an efficient and effective service to you by being aware of all the ways below you can access help from us. We have remained open throughout the pandemic. GP practices are being given advice by NHS England as to how best to maintain our services to patients whilst minimising the risk of exposing patients and staff to infection. We have had to change how we normally work but please be reassured that we are here for you.

Urgent Same Day Problems

During our normal opening hours please ring reception on 02380 555776 for urgent problems that require a same-day response. During out-of -hours please ring 111. Please do not turn up at the surgery without having contacted us first.

Online advice and information

NHS 111 online is a tool that allows you to get advice about your specific symptoms

The main NHS website has a wealth of information and advice

Healthier Together is a website with lots of expert advice & guidance for parents who are worried about their child's health

eConsult

E-Consult is an online consultation tool that allows patients to submit their symptoms or requests to their own GP electronically, and offers around the clock NHS self-help information, signposting to services, and a symptom checker. You may receive a response from the GP electronically or by phone. In many cases issues can be dealt with without the need to come to the surgery.

GP Online Portal

Your online account allows you to do many things without the need to phone or visit the surgery:

  • send and receive secure messages to & from your GP (you can also send photos and documents - maximum file size of 2mb)

  • request medications

  • view test results and your clinical record

  • update your contact details and communication preferences

  • book appointments - please note, during the Coronavirus Outbreak, in line with NHS England advice, we are only offering online booking of telephone appointments to reduce the risk of patients attending the surgery when infected

You can visit the Online Portal here. If you have not yet registered for online access please click here for information on how to register.

Telephone and face-to-face appointments

To avoid the need to visit the surgery, especially for people who have been advised to self-isolate, we will be providing telephone and video appointments with the GP which can be requested by phoning reception. In many cases your problem can be dealt with over the phone/by video link. In those circumstances where a face-to-face appointment may be required, your GP will discuss with you how urgently you need to be seen and will arrange an appointment as appropriate. We will ask you if you have possible corona virus symptoms as this will determine where you are seen. See here for more information about how GP services are being delivered across the city during the pandemic.
